A good themed wedding can be hard to pull off. It’s quite a commitment, and when done wrong, can fall pretty flat or be tough to pinpoint. If you’re going to go with a theme-wedding, we’ve learned the key is to lean in and really go hard.

Last spring we were fortunate enough to create florals for the most perfect Lord of the Rings + Game of Thrones wedding—no, not that Game of Thrones wedding. Luckily there was nothing “red” about this one. The bride and her family put so much care into this theme, and the result was completely breathtaking.

Any themed wedding begins with the venue, and Storybook Barn in Rogersville, Missouri was the perfect setting with sprawling views and historic European vibes. When you open the doors to the barn, it’s as if you’ve stepped into a moody Bavarian beer hall of sorts. [Chef’s kiss.]

The Ceremony

Esther and Wesley requested a woodsy aesthetic to highlight the fantasy motif with lots of textural ferns and greens, and pops of wildflowers in varying sizes and shapes. We created a woodland floor installation for their ceremony with ferns galore, encircling the couple as they said their wedding vow.

Esther’s bouquet featured greens of many textures with pops of white blooms, and the bridesmaids all carried small glass lanterns with fairy lights and greenery cascading out.

Everyone from the bridal party, to the musicians, to the guests were dressed to the nines in the their fur, cloaks, and even elf ears! The coolest dedication from friends and family to make this day truly one-of-a-kind.

The Reception

The reception space was adorned with amazing decor details made by the bride, including handmade buntings, thrifted candlesticks that were painted to look exactly like hefty iron candle sticks, and the most incredible GoT location seating chart and table markers.

We enhanced each guest table with lush greenery, and blooms popping up here and there on the table tops, and even created a thick bed of ferns and moss for a 5 foot sword to rest upon in the center of the head table. The perfect setting to eat a good turkey leg.

So let this be a lesson. If you’re going to go in on a wedding theme… make sure you go all in like this incredible Game of Thrones wedding. The payoff in photos in memories is totally worth it.

We even put together a little 30 second process Instagram Reel of some of the fun details:
